About
Growing up on the Tutukaka coast in Northland has instilled in me a deep connection to our landscape and appreciation for natural processes. After falling in love with the arts at Tikipunga High School, I transitioned into a life of study at Elam. I graduated with a BFA (Honours) in 2013. Art school wasn't the romantic hours of painting I had expected but challenged me to always approach things from multiple perspectives and be brave in my approach.
I've worked across a range of different creative fields since graduating - all linked by storytelling. I like to incorporate these elements into my painting.
Painting process
My process starts with spontaneous layers of underpainting. I pour, drip and spray colour. The second part of my practice is much more deliberate, carefully extracting a landscape and adding detail. Finally, each zone is glazed, securing cohesion.
Print process
Available in a range of sizes, framed or unframed. Each print is signed and uniquely embellished with gold leaf.
Commission process
Commissioning a painting is a really great way to get exactly what want for a space you may already have in mind. I work with you to design your perfect piece. We can start with a phone call or a visit if it's site specific and I will guide you through the whole process.
